DVDs received from Netflix through the mail with closed-captioning will work with the TVGuardian.
The TVGuardian requires the hidden closed-caption data to know when profanity is being spoken. The closed-caption doesn't have to be visible on the screen, just embedded in the TV show or movie that you are watching. Netflix doesn't provide the required closed-caption data.
Netflix needs to add TVGuardian to their system.
Netflix is in the process of adding the closed-captions that TVGuardian needs to detect the foul language. However, you have to use their proprietary video player software for instant streaming videos, even when using Netflix enabled products like the PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and Blu-Ray Players. In other words, TVGuardian software needs to be part of the Netflix software. You might want to contact Netflix about adding TVGuardian Foul Language Filter to their instant video software. We've tried to convince them, but they've shown little interest. The Netflix business development contact is http://www.netflix.com/ContactAlliances?lnkctr=cu_alliance. If enough people contact Netflix, they might start to listen.
